CLC Football Welcome Food Bags
Lakewood is excited to partner with Central Lakes College to meet a need that is nearly invisible. Beginning the first full week of August there will be about 60 football players moving into their housing as they report for the football season.
During the months of June and July we will be collecting items for each player. Delivery of the bags will be on Tuesday, August 8.
The Story& Need
The first two weeks of practice the school doesn’t offer food service. Many of the players have limited financial resources and the transition can be a bit overwhelming. We would like to meet this basic need by providing Welcome Food Bags to get them through those first two weeks, and to say, “Welcome to our community”, and introduce our church to them. Pastor Dave has been a volunteer coach since 2018, and believes the church providing this type of tangible gift will help him foster relationships with players and give him opportunities to interact with them.
